On a field trip with an environmental science class, we found this pretty female yellow-bellied racer swimming through the water. She was as curious about us as we were about her. After taking the photo, I caught her for my students and let them see her up close. Even when we let her go, she stayed pretty close to our group until we left. Fantastic little constrictor.
